Sweat the Big Stuff
| 21 | When I was starting out in businesses I was assigned the task of writing a sales letter by my manager, the owner of the company. After hours of agonizing over the exact phrasing of the letter my manager said to me "I've had people tell me they don't want to business with me because of my prices, location, or services. But I've never had anyone say that they didn't do business with me because of the way one sentence was phrased in a sales letter". That advice has always helped me to see the bigger picture and not sweat the small stuff. You do always want to run spell-check, though!

Fishing or Catching: Focus on New Clients | 7 | Are you fishing or catching. Fishermen go fishing to get away from the… (add your own excuse here). I’ll never go fishing again to get away from the wife or family… another story… You are in business and you know you have to generate referrals and identify prospects. When you fish for prospects, you are not really focused with your actions. You throw a line out there and hope it hits in the right spot. Let’s go catching so you never have to prospect again. Develop three daily habits that you will do DAILY relating to growing your clientele and customer relationships. Mine are: - Identify 3 new people to introduce myself or my business to daily. AND, do it!
- Write a daily tip for my clients, customers, and relationships.
- Read 3 minutes worth of Positive everyday.
It’s much easier to catch, and be caught by, potential clients when you are open and positive everyday.

Turning your know-how into Do-How | 1 | Look around you – how many times do you hear yourself exclaiming, “I know how to do that.”, or "I know I can do that.” Well, what’s stopping you… YOU ARE. Commit yourself to reflecting daily on turning your know-how into Do-How. Identify 3 people who are “doing” what you are saying you know-how to do. Write them or call them and ask for one piece of advice. Then do it. You too can turn your spirit of can-do and know-how into DO-HOW!!!
